"We work for the people, not the powerful!"

Ever since I was a little girl growing up in Houston’s Third Ward, I’ve been aware of our political climate — and I understood, even then, that people have power.

But because of the financial and social challenges facing our community, so many of us have become disillusioned with the process. I’m running for Congress to help restore that confidence — to serve the people and re-engage them in a system I’ve believed in since I was a child.

I want to build a stronger political community right here at home, and remind folks that it takes every single one of us to make democracy work.

Because if we’re not into politics, politics are still into us — and those consequences show up in our lives every single day.
